Why everyone wants to leave Pakistan?

Since the COVID-19 pandemic faded, everyone in Pakistan just wants to migrate. It’s been the talk of the town to leave. People do not want to just move abroad, they want to stay there for the rest of their lives. Some of my friends and family members have moved and some just need a spark. Even though every country has faced the economic and ecological effects of the pandemic, PAKISTAN has it worse.

In 2022, around 800,000 people moved to another country even though the visa process was tougher compared to other countries like India. In the ongoing year 2023, 200,00 people have left and the number is going up at a high rate.

There are several reasons for this scary situation of migration :

1. Economical condition :

At the moment, PAKISTAN is in more economic crisis than ever. Inflation is increasing every day. It is running out of budget and products too. Past few months lower class people (the majority of citizens) ran out of wheat and it was a hangman’s knot for the country. Neither the budget nor the products had the whole country to hiccups.

For me, fewer jobs, fewer opportunities, and institutions being careless are taken into account. There is no economy without people not working and if not given the opportunities it’d be a waste. Students have no idea what to do after graduation, and also learning skills.

2. Politics :

This is the topic people actually don’t discuss but a major reason for migration. The political parties have made the country worse and the chances of it getting better are zero to none. The country’s political condition was always mud but in the past few years, two major parties have made a hell out of it.

Every day there’s a new arrest, a new speech, a new rail by the mob. Involvement of the army in politics had also caused fear in few. No longer freedom of speech made people move to another

3. PRESSURE :

This might be not talked about by people but the actual reason for students to leave the country is pressure. The idea of success has an impact on each individual from older to younger. The rich are getting richer but the poor or middle class want to see the view of that success, that richness. Everyone wants to get that taste of the wine. More likely people are leaving to get their families out of the curse of poverty. People are judged based on their pocket value. Not outsider but relatives, family, brothers, and even parents sometimes criticize their children for not being rich enough. The burden of making others proud or standing up to your ego has caused people to leave this country. In a few years, people might get rich, the country may fall more, and life might get easier for those who left but will they be happy? If yes, then good and so. But if not, what else is there left to lose.

Is it okay to leave or stay?

I am not saying that ‘Stay in PAKISTAN’, or ‘Don’t betray motherland.’ In the modern era, it is necessary to travel to the places that benefit you, or just call it migration. The point is most of us are dependent and living a good here. We like the idea of leaving everything behind but not the reality of leaving. It is good to leave for your future. But just don’t leave without planning. No one is there waiting for your grand entrance or mine. It is good to start from zero. But before going zero, if you are aware of that zero, start preparing yourself for struggle. Meet new people here, ask for favors, learn new things here, try new things here; not to show off or anything but rather to adapt to that kind of lifestyle that is ahead of you.

sighs I might sound wrong but rephrasing a quote, ‘If you are born in PAKISTAN, it’s not your fault. But in these conditions, if you are planning to die in PAKISTAN, it is your fault.’
